Services:   Domain Names, Business Names and Corporations

back to services

In Australia a person may trade under a trading name which is registered (as a business name) in the State or Territory in which such business is conducted.  Alternatively, trade may be conducted using a corporation incorporated or registered under Australian law.  Business or corporate names are registered independently from any trade mark registration, but unlike a trade mark registration, do not confer statutory rights of a proprietary nature, i.e. ownership, to the name.  Disputes often arise between conflicting business names and trade marks.

Domain name registrations are in a similar position to business names and are in reality another form of trading identification - they are a means of creating a site address on the Internet.  Chrysiliou IP has the expertise and experience to assist you effectively in obtaining the most appropriate protection for your trading identification or name and in the enforcement of your rights.
